Jackson Water Precinct Minutes -- 05/07/2014
Jackson Water Precinct Meeting

May 7th, 2014

 (Unofficial until approved)

Attending: Pat Donnelly, Scott Hayes, Bill Johnson, Karl Meyers and Kevin Pratt.

Checks were reviewed and signed.

Scott said that bills, testing results and any other information will be mailed out to Water Precinct members in the not too distant future.

Bill found out that the Water Precinct does not qualify for a waiver regarding an Auditor. Richard Goss was appointed as the Auditor.

Ken from the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation (JSTF) attended the meeting. He wanted to check in now that there will be changes to their organization’s personnel & ask some questions about the proposed moving of part of the Ellis River Trail. Also, he wanted to try to make sure both organizations are on the same page regarding how the two organizations impact each other.

Both parties understand that both entities are very important to Jackson.

Ken explained that there are concerns about the safety of novice skiers because of the steepness and length of the run of the proposed trail remodel. There could be a traffic problem do to skiers on the slope running into skiers that would be at the bottom of the hill.

Ken also raised concern about the amount of money it is going to take to move the trail. It was explained that the water precinct is looking into grants and will have some money set aside for the project in their budget. A suggestion was made that perhaps the JSTF could also look into some grants as there may be some open to them as well.

Different ideas were discussed as to how to best move the trail to keep the skiers safe and happy as well as keeping the water supply safe and up to federal and state standards. Both groups will continue to brainstorm and keep in touch to work toward a solution.

There will be a walk-thru with an abutting land owner to show him the proposed trail remodel before the next meeting.

There was no other business discussed. The meeting was closed at 11:10

Respectfully submitted,
